Chicken Road

Chicken Road was released by InOut Games in 2024 and is the game that made the studio’s name. It takes the crash idea and replaces the continuously climbing multiplier with discrete steps: a chicken crosses a road one lane at a time, and every lane survived raises the multiplier. Nothing moves until you decide to move it.

That change matters more than it sounds. In Aviator the pressure comes from a number rising while you watch; here there is no clock at all. The game waits. Every step is a fresh decision to continue or bank what you have, which makes the format calmer to play and, for some people, considerably harder to stop.

The published return is 98% – among the highest on this site – and rounds are provably fair, meaning each outcome can be verified after the fact.

How a Round Works

Difficulty Modes

Before the round you choose a difficulty, and this choice does more to shape the game than anything else available to you. Easy mode advances often and adds little per step. The hardest modes advertise enormous multipliers and reach them by making each individual step far more likely to end the round.

The multiplier moves in jumps rather than climbing smoothly, and it is visible before you commit to the next step. You always know exactly what you are risking and exactly what you would gain, which is unusual in this category and is the main reason the game reads as approachable.

Provably Fair

Outcomes are cryptographically verifiable after the round. As always, this proves the round was not manipulated. It does not change the 2% house edge and says nothing about the casino’s willingness to pay out.

What the Numbers Say

98% is a high published return, better than almost any slot. The catch is the same as everywhere in this format: expected loss is the edge multiplied by turnover, and a game with no spin animation and no forced pause generates turnover quickly. A 98% game played three times as fast costs more than a 96% game played slowly.

The second thing worth internalising is what the hard modes are actually offering. Summary

A well-judged piece of design: it took a format built on reaction time and rebuilt it around deliberation, which is a genuine improvement for anyone who found Aviator stressful rather than exciting. The 98% return is real and the transparency of each step is a real virtue.

The flip side is that nothing about it imposes an ending. In a crash game the plane leaves and the round is over; here the next step is always available, and the discipline has to come from you.

One practical note: the name has been reused widely, including by other studios. Check the supplier in the game’s information panel before assuming a review of one applies to another.
